PTA Fete Update/Thank You

The PTA would like to thank everyone for supporting the fete.  They are still finalising figures for the day and will pass on this information as soon as they are able.

Reports 2015

On Friday, you will receive your child’s annual report.  This year the format will be different to previous years.  This is partly a result of our wish to keep you fully and accurately informed (some of the attainment data is drawn straight from our electronic assessment system) and partly as a response to national changes to pupil assessment as outlined in previous communications.  There will be three types of report; for children in Year R, children in Years 2 and 6 that are being measured against national levels for the last time and all other year groups who are measured against end of year expectations for each school year.  We do expect that parents will have questions about these formats and in particular the new system based on end of year expectations.  For this reason, please be sure to book a parents’ consultation appointment for next week.  We hope that the formats will be straight forward in terms of interpretation but would like feedback regarding common questions so that we can set up a Q and A guide for future reference.

Parents’ Consultations – New System for Signing Up

This term, we are trialling an online sign up system for Parents’ Consultations (which take place on Tuesday 23rd and Thursday 25th June).  The aim is to allow all parents the opportunity to choose the time slot of their choice.  In order to do this, every family will have a log in username and password.  This will have come home with your child today unless they have been absent.  The e-schools letter gives the website address, username and password.  When you have logged in, please follow the straightforward instructions.  The system will go live at 6am on Thursday June 18th.  If you do not have internet access, please contact the school office and we will assist you in booking an appointment.  Please let us know your thoughts on the process so that we can improve the service for subsequent events if necessary.

Sports Day Reminder

Friday, 19th June, will be our school Sports Day.  We will be holding this event at 10am (in order for the grass to be dry).  We look forward to seeing as many of you as possible and are keenly watching the weather forecast!  Should the forecast indicate heavy or prolonged rain for Friday, or should the field be waterlogged, we will advise by the end of school on Thursday 18th June that we will reschedule for Friday 26th June.  In the event of hot weather, please ensure that you child has sun cream pre-applied, hats, water etc.

Marwell Zoo

Fry class enjoyed a fun packed day out at Marwell Zoo as part of their science topic related to Animals and their Habitats. The morning was spent exploring the park and seeing the creatures, up close, in their natural habitats. After a picnic lunch, they participated in an All About Animal workshop. As part of this, they were able to meet in person, Sally the stick insect and Bo Bo the Boa constrictor. Maya said, “It was a magical day.” Megan agreed saying, “I loved how we got to handle the animals and touch a snake.” For Ed, his favourite part of the day was seeing the rhinos. The whole class had a brilliant time and learnt so much more about the animals they had been studying this term.

Governors’ BBQ Tickets

Tickets for the Governors’ BBQ will be available for sale this week during Sports Day. Alternatively please complete the form below and return to the school office with payment, your tickets will then be sent home via your child's red contact book. Many thanks.

PTA Textile Collection

We understand that some people were not ready for the last clothing collection or have had subsequent ‘sort outs’. Therefore, we would like to advertise another collection on 25th June. Please see Mrs Cort for further details.

Dates List

We would like to give as much notice as possible regarding dates for the next academic year.  Please find attached the dates list in its current form.  This will be republished as events are finalised.
