William Penn Open Day – Wednesday 10th March

This term’s Open Day will take place on Wednesday 10th March.  You are warmly invited to join us in school at a time of your choice and for as long or short a time as is convenient to you. We would just ask you to be mindful that the teachers will be teaching and unable to discuss your child’s progress with you on this day.  If you find that a lot of parents are in one class, it would be appreciated if you could spread your attendance out so that the children can carry on with their learning with minimal disruption.  Having said this, we are thoroughly looking forward to welcoming as many of you as possible on the 10th.  Please enter the school via the front office and ensure that the gate is closed when entering or leaving the site. If you have time, we would welcome your comments in our Vistors’ Book which is available in the office.

Book Club Awards

Members of our Year 6 Book Club had an enjoyable evening at The Weald School this week.  They were able to meet with four of the authors of the books that they have read this year.  Mrs Ritchie and Mrs Breacher accompanied the children who had contributed some fantastic posters displayed by Mrs B.  The children were thrilled to win first prize on the evening for the best book trailer.

World Book Day

World Book Day was well and truly celebrated at William Penn today.  The children, their parents and members of staff used a great deal of imagination and creativity to dress up as favourite characters.  Many children also managed to bring in books to share, featuring their chosen character.  After a themed assembly and costume parade, the children looked forward to book themed activities including reading extracts to older and younger pupils in the school.

PTA Easter Egg Hunt Non-Uniform Day

Friday 20th March will be a non-uniform day in exchange for chocolate eggs and bunnies to be used for the children’s egg hunt which take place on the 25th March.  We would welcome parents to help with the hunt.  Please talk to a member of the PTA or a class representative if you are available.  If your child has allergies or special dietary needs please bring eggs specifically for them in a labelled bag so that they don’t get mixed up with the others.  Thank You

PTA Fete Programme Update from Fiona McNeile

We have started to put together our Summer Fete Programme and are currently looking for local businesses who may wish to support the school and promote their business by advertising in the programme.  The programme reaches approximately 400 families in the local area and is delivered in the community as well as issued at the school fete.  If you own a local business  and would like to advertise in the programme or know of a business that you think would be interested in this opportunity, then please contact Fiona McNeile either by email fionamcneile@yahoo.co.uk or phone 07769 702004.

If you have any pupil achievements that you would like mentioned in the newsletter, please e-mail the office: office@williampenn.w-sussex.sch.uk
